Indonesia DPR member calls for state action on water crisis

Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission VII member Novita Hardini has emphasized that addressing the clean water crisis requires both state presence and grassroots community strength. She stated that clean water is a primary necessity that should not become a luxury, particularly as drought limits access for many citizens.

In response to recent water shortages, Hardini and the Kawulo Alit Volunteers distributed clean water via tank trucks to residents in Ngulan Etan Village, Pogalan District, Trenggalek Regency. The distribution targeted several residential areas affected by the dry season to meet basic daily needs. Hardini indicated that further assistance would be directed toward other identified regions facing similar water crises.
