Southeast Asian regions deploy emergency water relief amid drought and haze

Various regions in Indonesia and Malaysia are implementing emergency measures to combat water shortages caused by prolonged dry seasons and haze.

In Indonesia, local authorities and police forces are actively distributing clean water to drought-stricken areas. In Central Kalimantan, Governor Agustiar Sabran has ordered massive water distribution across all regencies to mitigate the impact of forest and land fires. In Cirebon, police utilized water cannons to deliver water to residents, while in Ngawi and Gresik, police units distributed thousands of liters to local villages. In Riau, the Energi Kebaikan Rokan program helped inaugurate four wells to serve dozens of homes in the Minas district.

In Malaysia, the Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKM) distributed over 2,000 boxes of mineral water to more than 1,100 residents in the Kabong district to address water supply disruptions and haze-related issues.
