Indonesia targets 6% economic growth and lower poverty in 2027 budget
Indonesia's 2027 state budget (RAPBN) outlines ambitious economic and social targets. President Prabowo Subianto has set a 6 percent economic growth target for 2027, aiming to reduce the national poverty rate to between 6.0 and 6.5 percent and lower the open unemployment rate to a range of 4.30-4.87 percent.
The proposed budget includes a projected expenditure of Rp4,097.2 trillion against state revenues of Rp3,426 trillion, resulting in a planned deficit of Rp671.2 trillion, or 2.40 percent of GDP. Inflation is projected to be maintained at approximately 2.5 percent.
Economic analysts and business leaders have expressed mixed views. While the growth targets are noted, some experts warn that indicators such as the OECD Composite Leading Indicator (CLI) show signs of economic weakening. Additionally, KADIN Indonesia has urged the government to ensure that budget efficiency does not lead to cuts in productive spending, such as infrastructure and education, which are vital for long-term growth.
