Indonesia egg price slump leads to export push to Singapore and ASEAN

Quail egg producers in Malang, East Java, report that prices have dropped to about IDR 18,000 per kilogram, down from the usual IDR 25‑30,000. The village-owned enterprise Jaya Asri Jedong, which raises 10,500 birds and produces roughly 75 kg of quail eggs daily, faces operating costs of around IDR 2 million per day and losses of IDR 100‑150 thousand each day, amounting to about IDR 12 million over three months. To mitigate the deficit, the farm plans to sell catfish, whose market price remains stable.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade is studying the export of chicken eggs to Singapore and other ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia, as a way to absorb excess supply and support domestic prices that have slipped to roughly IDR 25,985 per kilogram, a 0.42 % decline week‑on‑week. Officials say they will facilitate distribution from surplus regions to areas with higher consumer prices and help producers meet the certification requirements of the destination markets.
