Indonesia enacts Satu Data Indonesia Law to unify national data

Indonesia has passed the Satu Data Indonesia (SDI) Law, establishing a new legal foundation for national data governance. The legislation replaces Presidential Regulation Number 39 of 2019, providing a unified foundation for the country's data ecosystem.

Minister of National Development Planning Rachmat Pambudy stated that the law aims to create an accurate, integrated, secure, and interoperable data ecosystem. This framework is intended to support evidence-based policymaking and ensure that government programs, such as social assistance and community protection, are precisely targeted. The law classifies data into open, limited, and closed categories and establishes National Basic Data as a primary reference for development planning, fiscal policy, and budgeting.
