Indonesia exceeded its gold medal target at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, securing a total of five gold medals. The achievements were contributed by badminton, weightlifting, sport climbing, and archery.
In badminton, the country earned two gold medals through the men's team event and the men's doubles pair of Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin. Other gold medalists included Rahmat Erwin Abdullah in weightlifting, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi in sport climbing, and Nurisa Dian Ashrifah in archery.
The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) awarded 4.8 billion IDR in additional bonuses to athletes and support staff. This includes 2 billion IDR for the men's team and 1 billion IDR for the Leo/Daniel doubles pair, separate from official government bonuses. PBSI Chairman Fadil Imran emphasized that the success is a collective effort and urged athletes to maintain momentum for the 2028 Olympics.
Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir expressed satisfaction with the results, noting the importance of success in Olympic-level disciplines. He announced that the government is already refocusing preparations for the 2027 SEA Games and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics as part of a long-term national training center strategy.
