Indonesia expands AI talent and digital‑health capacity with Japan and UK partnerships

Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) signed a Record of Discussions with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to launch the Next Generation AI Talent Factory. The programme, started in 2025 and expanded in 2026, aims to develop AI talent that can address child protection online, disinformation, poverty mapping and other national development priorities. It involves collaboration with universities such as Brawijaya, ITS and Gadjah Mada, and enrolled 98 participants who created AI‑driven solutions for these challenges.

At the same time, RS Pelni hosted the International College London (ICL) Management Training 2026, a three‑day program that brought together hospital leaders from across Indonesia and experts from Imperial College London. The training focused on digital health, artificial intelligence in health systems, value‑based care and hospital governance, seeking to accelerate the transfer of knowledge and improve service quality for patients.

Both initiatives underline Indonesia’s strategy to strengthen its digital and AI capabilities through international cooperation, linking government, academia, industry and healthcare providers to build a skilled workforce for the digital era.
