Indonesia expands child protection with cultural festival in West Java and safe‑space program in Central Kalimantan

The West Java provincial department for women, children and family planning (DP3AKB) organized the Festival Kreasi Budaya Anak as part of the 2026 National Child Day celebration. Held at the Dago Tea House in Bandung, the event featured Sundanese cultural performances, competitions in dance, pencak silat and traditional singing, and involved 893 children from 27 regencies. Officials said the festival aims to strengthen child rights, preserve regional culture and provide a participatory space for young people.

In Barito Selatan, Central Kalimantan, the local DP3APPKB department launched a program to create safe spaces for women and children. The initiative focuses on preventing violence through community education, multi‑stakeholder collaboration and capacity‑building for officials and the public. Organisers stress that preventive outreach and broader involvement are essential to reduce abuse and protect vulnerable groups.
