Indonesia expands corruption probe into MBG nutrition program, adds police and military officials

Indonesia's Attorney General's Office (Kejaksaan Agung) has named a new suspect in the alleged corruption of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. The suspect is the Secretary of the Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and is an active police officer. Investigators also uncovered the involvement of an active TNI officer serving as Secretary of the Deputy for Provision and Distribution at BGN.

Government Communications Agency chief Muhammad Qodari said President Prabowo Subianto has granted the prosecutor full latitude to pursue the case without regard to the suspects' institutional backgrounds, stressing that the law will be applied equally to police, military or civilian officials. The investigation follows earlier findings of a TNI officer’s role in tender manipulation and the detention of a police officer accused of extorting food‑tray supplies from nutrition service providers. The probe remains ongoing, with authorities pledging to process all alleged participants through the legal system.
