West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has ordered a temporary halt to the construction of a Rp3.5 trillion AI Data Center project in Jatiluhur, Purwakarta. The project, owned by Singapore-based BDx Data Centers, is currently suspended due to incomplete environmental and building permits, specifically the Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL) and Building Approval (PBG).

A primary concern raised by the Governor is the facility's massive water consumption. At full capacity, the data center is projected to require approximately 33 million liters of water per day (384 liters per second). Mulyadi emphasized that the project must not jeopardize the water supply for local agricultural needs. He noted that BDx plans to purchase water through the local PDAM rather than drawing directly from the Jatiluhur reservoir, a distinction he highlighted as important for maintaining service to the public.

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani stated that the central government will coordinate with the West Java provincial administration to discuss the matter. While the provincial government supports foreign investment, officials stressed that all regulatory and environmental requirements must be strictly met before construction proceeds.
