Indonesia expands mangrove restoration with corporate CSR and government M4CR program

Astra Motor Bengkulu pledged support for World Mangrove Day by planting 1,000 mangrove seedlings in the province, part of its AM Greeners CSR pillar. Marketing head Ricco Roviandy said the initiative aims to protect coastal ecosystems, reduce erosion and contribute to climate‑change mitigation.

Separately, the Ministry of Forestry announced the Mangroves for Coastal Resilience (M4CR) programme, targeting the rehabilitation of 32,634 ha – the largest mangrove project worldwide. Secretary Muhammad Zainal Arifin said the effort will continue planting 1,000 trees in Aceh and expand across East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, North Sumatra and Riau, with a 2027 completion goal.
