Indonesia expands migrant worker placement via Croatia MoU and regional programs
Indonesia is expanding its migrant worker placement opportunities through new international collaborations and regional training programs. Christina Aryani, Deputy Minister of Migrant Worker Protection, is currently coordinating with the Indonesian Embassy in Zagreb to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Croatia. This agreement aims to target the hospitality sector, leveraging Croatia’s tourism demand. The Ministry emphasized the need for workers to possess specific competencies, particularly English language proficiency, to meet Croatian market standards.
Simultaneously, the Jember Regency Government is collaborating with the Ministry of Migrant Worker Protection through the ‘SMK Go Global’ program. This initiative seeks to provide safe and procedural overseas employment opportunities for vocational school graduates to help reduce local poverty. The Jember administration is also exploring potential labor placements in Greece and has implemented support programs for the families of migrant workers, including scholarships for their children.
