Indonesian migrant worker protection and market expansion

Overview

The Indonesian government is pursuing a dual strategy of expanding international labor markets and strengthening domestic protections for migrant workers.

To increase employment opportunities, the Ministry of Migrant Worker Protection (KP2MI) is coordinating with diplomatic representatives to explore labor market expansion into the United States. Law enforcement and protection services are also investigating potential human trafficking, including a case in Central Sulawesi where a prospective worker was reportedly lured by fraudulent job offers for Dubai.
