Indonesia expands school revitalisation programme to 71,744 schools by 2026

Indonesia’s Ministry of Education and Culture announced plans to broaden its School Revitalisation Programme. About 60,000 additional schools will be added in 2026, raising the total target to 71,744 schools nationwide. The expansion will be funded with a budget of roughly Rp13.4 trillion, prioritising schools with severe damage, those in remote “3T” (frontier, outermost, underdeveloped) areas, and facilities needing post‑disaster reconstruction.

In parallel, the Ministry of Social Welfare opened 5,127 permanent contract (PPPK) positions for Sekolah Rakyat across the country. The vacancies cover five key roles – guardians, pedagogical assistants, school operators, finance managers and administrative staff – and require applicants to hold at least a D3 qualification, a minimum GPA of 3.10, and be aged 20‑45. Applications opened on 8 June 2026 via the SSCASN portal.
