Indonesia expands Sekolah Garuda education and university access

Indonesia is expanding its specialized education initiatives through the Sekolah Garuda programs. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology has opened registration for the SMA Unggul Garuda Baru for the 2027/2028 academic year. This program aims to provide an international-standard curriculum and includes hundreds of full scholarships, with priority given to high-achieving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

In connection with these efforts, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) has introduced the Unpad Garuda Pass (UG-Pass) for 47 high schools included in the Sekolah Garuda Unggul Transformasi 2026. This special track allows graduates to compete for specific quotas within 16 International Undergraduate Program (IUP) study tracks for the 2026/2027 academic year. Some IUP tracks offer double degree options with the University of Melbourne and the University of Queensland, while others provide international exchange opportunities.
