Indonesia expands Sekolah Rakyat program and launches reporting system
Indonesia's Ministry of Social Affairs is launching an integrated reporting system for the Sekolah Rakyat program. Minister Saifullah Yusuf announced that the public, including students, teachers, and parents, can report issues such as bullying or violence via a dedicated WhatsApp channel. The Minister emphasized that these reports serve as an early warning system and promised that the identity and data of whistleblowers will remain confidential.
Simultaneously, the Sekolah Rakyat initiative has entered its third phase of implementation. Following an initial pioneering phase of 166 schools and a second phase involving 93 schools, the program is now focusing on the readiness criteria for permanent construction. The Ministry of Home Affairs has stressed the importance of ensuring land legality and ownership status to prevent future legal disputes or community conflicts during the development of these permanent facilities.
