Indonesia explores cruise and logistics sectors for migrant workers
Christina Aryani, the Deputy Minister of Migrant Worker Protection (KP2MI), is exploring new placement opportunities for Indonesian migrant workers in the global cruise ship and logistics sectors.
During meetings with representatives from MSC Cruise and a visit to the Bali Land Transportation Polytechnic (Poltrada), Aryani emphasized the need to align domestic training with international market demands. Key focus areas include strengthening English language proficiency and specialized technical skills.
In the logistics sector, the ministry aims to develop competencies suitable for airports, ports, and manufacturing industries. Aryani noted that existing training programs may be adjusted, potentially including shorter-duration courses, to ensure workers are better prepared for the specific requirements of destination countries.
