Indonesia finance minister pledges 400 trn IDR liquidity boost to spur credit growth
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced that the government will transfer about 400 trillion rupiah of idle funds from Bank Indonesia to the state‑owned bank association (Himbara) to ensure ample liquidity in the banking sector. He expects this to enable national bank credit growth of 14‑15% this year, well above Bank Indonesia’s own forecast of 8‑12%.
At the same time, PT Bank Mayapada International (MAYA), owned by Dato' Sri Tahir, set a credit‑growth target of 8% by year‑end, concentrating on small‑medium enterprises and selective corporate lending. The bank also outlined a profit‑after‑tax goal of 63.4 billion rupiah for 2026, projected asset growth of roughly 9.8%, and reported its 2025 results, retaining earnings to strengthen capital rather than paying dividends.
