Indonesia Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa Flags Program Gaps and Fuel‑Price Inflation
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the government’s priority schemes – the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program and the Village Cooperative (Kopdes) Merah Putih – still suffer from numerous shortcomings. He pledged continued evaluation, tighter supervision and better coordination with implementing agencies to make the programmes more efficient and accountable, and highlighted ongoing reforms within the Ministry, including stronger anti‑fraud measures in tax and customs.
Purbaya also linked June 2026 inflation to rising non‑subsidised fuel and food commodity prices, noting a year‑on‑year rate of 3.34 % and a core inflation of 2.76 %. He expects inflationary pressure to ease as fuel prices, particularly Pertamax, begin to fall, stating that a gradual price decline will reduce the inflation burden.
