Indonesia Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa Signals 2027 Budget Efficiency Measures
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced that Indonesia will tighten its fiscal stance for the 2027 budget year to address growing spending commitments and preserve fiscal balance. He outlined an efficiency drive that will target government expenditures at 13.62 %‑14.80 % of GDP, emphasizing more productive, well‑targeted spending. The plan includes stricter subsidy management, expanded social protection programmes and the use of the national social‑economic data system to direct aid directly to beneficiaries. Purbaya also set a new exchange‑rate goal of IDR 16,800 per US dollar for 2027, aiming to support the rupiah and overall economic stability.
These measures are intended to improve fiscal discipline, protect purchasing power and reduce poverty while ensuring the government's financial sustainability over the coming years.
