Indonesia fintech sector seeks deeper bank ties as regulators flag equity shortfalls
The Indonesia Digital Bank Summit (IDBS) 2026, organized by the fintech association Aftech, highlighted the move toward a financial convergence where fintech firms act as strategic partners to banks. Speakers emphasized universal banking, open finance, AI adoption, and the development of digital public and financial infrastructure to support real‑economy growth and inclusive financing.
At the same time, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) reported that eight of the 94 peer‑to‑peer (P2P) lending platforms have not yet met the mandatory minimum equity of Rp 12.5 billion. Those firms submitted action plans that include raising capital, attracting strategic investors or pursuing mergers. Overall, P2P lending in Indonesia reached an outstanding volume of Rp 103.73 trillion in May 2026, up 25.6% year‑on‑year, with aggregate credit‑risk indicators remaining stable at a TWP90 of 4.42%.
