Indonesia food price index shows higher chili and egg costs

The National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS), managed by Bank Indonesia, reported a rise in staple food prices across the country. On the latest update, red bird's‑eye chili (cabai rawit merah) was priced at Rp 95,150 per kilogram and chicken eggs at Rp 32,050 per kilogram, up from earlier figures of Rp 75,150 and Rp 30,350 respectively. Other retail‑level prices included red onion at Rp 62,350 per kg, garlic at Rp 45,300 per kg, and various rice grades ranging from Rp 16,350 to Rp 17,900 per kg. Fresh chicken meat was listed at Rp 39,550 per kg, while beef of the highest grade cost about Rp 155,350 per kg. Sugar, cooking oil and other commodities also saw modest changes.

These price movements reflect ongoing supply‑chain pressures and domestic market dynamics, affecting consumer expenditure on essential foods throughout Indonesia.
