Indonesia's BMKG warns of moderate rain across major cities on Monday

The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) issued a nationwide forecast for Monday, predicting rain of light to moderate intensity in several major urban areas. BMKG forecaster Nurul Izzah Fitria highlighted moderate rain risks for Medan and Tanjung Selor in western Indonesia, while light rain is expected to affect cities such as Padang, Jambi, Tanjung Pinang, Bengkulu, Palembang, Serang, Jakarta, Bandung and Yogyakarta. Cloudy to overcast conditions are also forecast for regions including Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Pangkal Pinang, Semarang, Surabaya, Pontianak, Palangkaraya and Banjarmasin, with a chance of hazy air in Bandar Lampung and Samarinda.

In the east, the agency warned of light rain in Mamuju, Palu, Manado, Manokwari, Jayapura, Jayawijaya and Merauke, while overcast weather is expected over Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Makassar, Kendari, Gorontalo, Ternate, Ambon, Sorong and Nabire. Specific forecasts for Jakarta project a cloudy morning turning to light rain in the evening, and a detailed outlook for Papua Barat Daya (Sorong, Sorong Selatan, Raja Ampat, Tambrauw, Maybrat) shows a mix of partly cloudy to cloudy skies. The agency urged the public to stay alert, monitor updates via its Info BMKG app and social media, and be prepared for sudden weather changes.
