Indonesia fuel distribution: Bali and East Java supply measures

The Indonesian government is implementing measures to stabilize fuel supplies following distribution disruptions in Bali and East Java. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia reported that the issues in Bali were caused by delays in fuel transport ships arriving from Java. To address this, the government has deployed seven additional ships to Bali and directed Pertamina to increase Bali’s fuel reserves from 11–12 days to 15 days to align with national standards.

In East Java, authorities are working to resolve queues in areas such as Malang, Jember, and Blitar, with a target to stabilize distribution within one to two days. Measures to support East Java include increasing supply via additional tankers and extending depot operating hours to 24 hours.

Nationally, Pertalite (RON 90) reserves are currently between 16 and 18 days. This decrease is attributed to a shift in consumer behavior, as many citizens are switching from non-subsidized fuels like Pertamax to subsidized Pertalite to save costs. The government aims to restore national Pertalite reserves to a 20-day level within a week.
