Koperasi Desa Merah Putih to distribute subsidized goods in Indonesia
The Indonesian government is accelerating the implementation of the Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDKMP) to serve as a primary distribution channel for subsidized goods, including rice, LPG, fertilizer, and cooking oil. President Prabowo Subianto has mandated that these cooperatives handle subsidized commodity distribution to ensure it reaches the public more effectively.
To support this initiative, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan stated that managers for these village cooperatives will be paid through the state budget (APBN) via the state-owned enterprise PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara (Persero). These managers will hold two-year fixed-term contracts (PKWT), with monthly salaries ranging from Rp6.8 million to Rp8.3 million, depending on their regional placement and local minimum wage.
Implementation efforts are underway across various regions. In Gunungkidul, local authorities are currently verifying 30 KDKMP outlets to ensure they are safe and equipped for operation. However, reports from Depok indicate that some outlets have struggled to become operational, with some locations appearing inactive or closed.
