Indonesia hikes Pertamax fuel price as global oil costs rise

Indonesia's cabinet secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, announced that the non‑subsidised gasoline grade Pertamax will rise from 12,300 rupiah to 16,250 rupiah per litre, and Pertamax Green 95 from 12,900 rupiah to 17,000 rupiah per litre. He said, "Pertamax is a non‑subsidised fuel, so its price must follow world oil prices," noting that the increase follows the surge in crude prices since March.

Teddy added that subsidised fuels – Pertalite at 10,000 rupiah and Solar at 6,800 rupiah per litre – will remain unchanged. He compared the new Pertamax price with RON 92/95 fuels in nearby Asian countries, stating that Indonesia's price is still lower than in the Philippines, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and Singapore.
