Indonesia housing minister advances tile production and financing initiatives

Indonesia's Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait, is advancing several initiatives to support the national housing sector. In Plered, Purwakarta, the 'gentengisasi' program is set to begin, with 500,000 roof tiles scheduled for shipment via 125 trucks on October 2, 2026. This program, directed by President Prabowo Subianto, aims to revitalize local production centers and empower local artisans by upgrading their production capacity and product standards.

Simultaneously, Minister Sirait met with Bank Indonesia to discuss central bank support for the housing sector. The discussions focused on stimulating housing finance access through additional statutory reserve requirement (GWM) incentives. This follows previous commitments from Bank Indonesia to provide liquidity incentives to banks lending to the housing sector, with a goal of increasing these incentives from Rp 23.19 trillion toward Rp 80 trillion.
