Indonesia hybrid vehicle sales rise 41.9 percent

Hybrid vehicle sales in Indonesia grew by 41.9 percent between January and September 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, according to Gaikindo wholesale data. This growth occurred despite the expiration of government luxury goods tax (PPnBM DTP) incentives.

Total hybrid sales reached 65,968 units, surpassing the full-year 2025 total. In the specific segment, the Toyota Veloz Hybrid emerged as the best-selling hybrid model with 2,552 units distributed, narrowly surpassing the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid, which recorded 2,370 units.

While hybrid sales rose, battery electric vehicles (BEV) saw a significant surge, with 117,218 units sold, representing a 112 percent increase from the previous year. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) also experienced rapid growth of 209.5 percent, driven largely by models such as the BYD M6 DM.
