Indonesia implements food aid programs to ensure food security

Indonesia is implementing large-scale food assistance programs to ensure national food security and mitigate the impacts of the current dry season. Through Perum Bulog, the government is distributing approximately 997,200 tons of rice to 33.24 million beneficiaries for the July to September 2026 period.

In Gorontalo, the Provincial Agriculture Office reports that food stocks remain stable despite the peak of the dry season, which is expected to last through late 2026. Head of the Agriculture Office, Muljady D. Mario, noted that rice stocks in Bulog warehouses, mills, and among farmers are sufficient as most crops are nearing harvest. Additionally, the local government is distributing approximately 8,000 food aid packages to support the community during the drought.
