Indonesia implements tax official reshuffles and logistics reforms

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has announced a major reorganization of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC). To improve state revenue collection and clean up internal corruption, officials from echelon II to IV are being reshuffled. High-performing employees are being moved to major revenue centers, while those with poor performance or suspected of misconduct are being transferred to regional offices or, in some cases, dismissed.

In the logistics sector, the Jakarta Regional Office of Customs and Excise is promoting the use of Bonded Logistics Centers (PLB) to reduce dwelling times and lower logistics costs. By using PLBs as port buffers, goods can be moved more quickly, reducing port occupancy rates.

Additionally, the Indonesia Quarantine Authority (Barantin) is implementing pre-border quarantine measures at the country of origin to manage the high volume of fish imports. This shift aims to prevent congestion and rising logistics costs at domestic ports. Barantin is also strengthening biosecurity cooperation with New Zealand to align sanitary and phytosanitary protocols and enhance trade security.
