Indonesia implements regional food assistance programs

Indonesian authorities are implementing food assistance programs across various regions to support low-income households and stabilize food prices.

In Barito Selatan, Central Kalimantan, Vice Regent Khristianto Yudha distributed food aid to residents in Pararapak and Danau Jutuh villages. This initiative aims to address food needs amidst ongoing haze conditions caused by forest and land fires. The Barito Selatan Police Department is supporting the distribution to ensure security and order.

In Central Sulawesi, Perum Bulog is accelerating the distribution of rice aid allocated by the National Food Agency (Bapanas). The program targets 405,404 beneficiaries to meet basic needs from July through September 2026. Bulog officials stated that most districts in Central Sulawesi have already begun distribution to help reduce household expenditures and control inflation related to rice commodities.
