Indonesia implements regional nutritional programs to combat stunting

Various regional initiatives in Indonesia are targeting the reduction of stunting through nutritional interventions and community education.

In Kuningan Regency, the local government has launched the ‘Gerimis’ (Milk Drinking Movement) and ‘Gematel’ (Egg Eating Movement) programs. These initiatives aim to increase the consumption of animal proteins, specifically milk and eggs, among pregnant women and toddlers to ensure optimal growth and development. Vice Regent Tuti Andriani emphasized that stunting prevention requires a collaborative approach involving families, health workers, and the community to ensure long-term nutritional habits.

In another region, the NHM Peduli program has received praise from the Bobaneigo Community Health Center for its efforts in mining-adjacent areas. The program focuses on monitoring child growth, providing nutritious food, and educating parents on developmental importance. Health officials noted that the program’s direct assistance and synergy with local health workers and Posyandu cadres have positively impacted child growth monitoring and parental awareness regarding nutritional needs.
