Indonesia-India Joint Commission Meeting Resumes in New Delhi
Indonesian Foreign Minister H. E. Mr. Sugiono arrived in New Delhi on 6 June 2026, leading a senior delegation for the 8th India‑Indonesia Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) co‑chaired by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. The three‑day session on 7 June marked the first JCM in four years and celebrated 75 years of diplomatic ties, which began in 2025.
The ministers reviewed the full spectrum of the India‑Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, discussing cooperation in political, defence and security, maritime, trade and investment, health and pharmaceuticals, food security, tourism, education and culture, as well as digital, energy, connectivity, space and people‑to‑people exchanges. They reaffirmed commitment to deeper coordination in regional and multilateral fora and highlighted upcoming high‑level visits, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned trip to Jakarta.
The meeting followed earlier engagements on the sidelines of the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New York in May 2026 and built on discussions between President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Modi during the latter’s state visit to India in January 2025.
