Indonesia records July 2026 deflation as CPI falls to 111.73
Indonesia’s statistics agency (BPS) reported a month‑to‑month deflation of 0.14 percent in July 2026, bringing the consumer price index down from 111.89 in June to 111.73. Year‑on‑year inflation stood at 2.88 percent.
The deflation was driven mainly by the food, beverage and tobacco group, which posted a 0.89 percent contribution. Prices of key commodities such as onions, red chili, tomatoes, and other horticultural products fell sharply. Regional data showed similar trends: Maluku Tengah posted a 0.26 percent deflation, Gorontalo 0.43 percent, and Bali 0.51 percent, all linked to falling food‑related prices.
Bank Mandiri’s economists forecast a modest 0.03 percent month‑to‑month inflation for July, with a 3.06 percent year‑on‑year rate and core inflation expected to rise to 0.29 percent month‑to‑month, reflecting seasonal education‑related spending.
