Indonesia infrastructure projects face land and construction challenges
Major infrastructure projects in Indonesia are facing varying levels of progress and logistical hurdles. In the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) region, the completion of the IKN Toll Road Section 3A-2 (Karangjoang–Kariangau segment) is at risk of delay. While physical construction has reached 91.42 percent, approximately 3 percent of the required land, specifically near toll exits, remains unacquired. This land acquisition issue has caused construction to fall slightly behind the planned schedule of 91.76 percent.
Meanwhile, the Semarang-Demak Toll Road project in Central Java continues its development. This National Strategic Project serves a dual purpose as a transportation link and a sea wall to protect coastal areas from tidal flooding. Section 2 is already operational, while Section 1 is under construction using sustainable bamboo pile methods. Progress for Section 1A has reached 96.55 percent, Section 1B is at 68.70 percent, and Section 1C is at 64.79 percent.
