Indonesia initiates 2026 Economic Census in Belu and Tuban districts
The Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) began Indonesia's decennial Economic Census 2026 in two districts. In Belu, East Nusa Tenggara, a ceremony on 13 June 2026 launched the census with 235 field officers who will conduct door‑to‑door interviews to gather detailed data on households and businesses. BPS officials emphasized that accurate data are essential for national and regional planning, business strategy, academic research, and public use.
In Tuban, East Java, the census was inaugurated on 12 June 2026 under the theme “Sinergi Membangun Ekonomi Kabupaten Tuban melalui Sensus Ekonomi 2026.” A team of 1,334 staff will cover a wide range of economic activities, including small home enterprises, digital services, and non‑cash transactions, from 15 June to 31 August 2026. Local leaders highlighted that reliable data will improve policy formulation and welfare programs across village, district, provincial, and central government levels.
