Indonesia Justice Minister Targets Asset Seizure Bill and Victim‑Support Reforms

Justice Minister Supratman Andi Agatas told reporters that the government has drafted clauses for an Asset Seizure Bill and expects the legislation to be finalized and issued within the year. The draft is currently undergoing public consultation and parliamentary review, with a List of Inventory Issues (DIM) to be examined jointly by the government and the DPR before a second‑reading debate.

The minister also announced a new programme to accelerate assistance for victims of sexual violence, migrant‑worker exploitation and human trafficking. The Ministry of Law is conducting technical training for police, prosecutors, legal aid providers and paralegals to align case handling with the recently revised criminal code (KUHP) and procedural code (KUHAP). "These three issues seriously affect human dignity," Supratman said, emphasizing a victim‑centred approach under the reforms.
