Indonesia launches 100 GW solar power project under President Prabowo

President Prabowo Subianto told Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia that expanding electricity access to remote villages is a top priority. The government says more than 1,400 villages now have power, while roughly 11,000 still lack it.

The first groundbreaking ceremony for a national 100‑gigawatt solar‑power program will be held soon, with the president expected to inaugurate it. The project aims to reach its full capacity by 2029 and is part of Indonesia’s broader clean‑energy transition.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has invited Chinese firms to invest in the solar‑panel supply chain and the broader PLTS 100 GW effort, highlighting bilateral talks in Shanghai as a step toward deeper Indonesia‑China cooperation in renewable energy.
