Indonesia launches 2026 economic census across Aceh

Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) began the 2026 economic census on 15 June, with fieldwork slated to run until 31 August. In Aceh, BPS deployed 5,328 enumerators as part of a national team of 251,000 staff to record economic activity ranging from household enterprises and micro‑, small‑ and medium‑sized businesses (MSMEs) to traditional markets, food stalls, corner shops and large firms. The census aims to capture detailed data on production sites, such as a small fish‑farm operation in Lambaro Skep, Banda Aceh, to inform future policy and investment decisions.
