Indonesia launches national rice assistance program for 33.4 million beneficiaries

The Indonesian government has launched the food assistance program for the July–September 2026 allocation, targeting 33.4 million beneficiary families (KPM) nationwide. Under this program, each recipient is set to receive 10 kilograms of rice per month for three consecutive months, totaling approximately 1 million tons of rice distributed across the country.

Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman announced that national rice reserves are currently robust, totaling 5.2 million tons stored in Perum BULOG warehouses. In East Java, the program targets 5.6 million beneficiaries, with local rice stocks reported at 1.38 million tons, sufficient for the next 17 months.

Regional distributions are also underway, including in Yogyakarta, where BULOG is supplying rice to five regencies and cities: Yogyakarta City, Sleman, Bantul, Gunungkidul, and Kulon Progo. The initiative aims to maintain food supply stability, control regional inflation, and support the purchasing power of vulnerable populations.
