Indonesia launches new Hajj‑Umrah terminal at Soekarno‑Hatta and plans Dhoho airport hub

On 1 July 2026 Indonesia’s Soekarno‑Hatta International Airport began operating a dedicated Hajj and Umrah Terminal 2F. The first‑day service, coordinated by PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, handled pilgrim flights of Loong Air, Hainan Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines. General Manager Heru Karyadi said the operation ran smoothly, noting the effort was “kelancaran operasional pada hari pertama tidak terlepas dari koordinasi antara regulator, maskapai, Penyelenggara Perjalanan Ibadah Umrah (PPIU), dan seluruh pemangku kepentingan di bandara.”

Meanwhile, the Kediri regency government is preparing a 65‑hectare site near the planned Dhoho International Airport to serve as a new Hajj embarkation point from 2027. The plan includes airport infrastructure, road links, toll access, health facilities and about 10 hotels providing 748 rooms. Officials say the hub will relieve pressure on Surabaya’s Hajj dormitory and Jakarta‑Juanda Airport, improving comfort, safety and efficiency for pilgrims from East Java and surrounding regions.
