Indonesia launches NVIDIA AI Factory in Batam and joins global AI cooperation

Indonesia is advancing its role in the global artificial intelligence ecosystem with two strategic moves. The government is developing a 360 MW NVIDIA DSX AI Factory in Batam, slated to house up to 170,000 next‑generation GPUs by 2027. The project is projected to generate between US$25 billion and US$30 billion in the first six years of operation. At the same time, Indonesia has become a founding member of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO), joining 29 other nations to shape international AI policy and collaboration.

These initiatives aim to transform Indonesia’s digital economy, which officials estimate could grow from roughly US$13 billion today to US$300 billion over coming decades. By linking high‑performance computing infrastructure with talent, innovation and governance, the country seeks to move from being a regional digital market to a recognized AI hub in Southeast Asia.
