Indonesia lawmakers scrutinize 2027 budget, flag road maintenance shortfall

During a hearing on July 1, 2026, Member of the House Commission V Sudjatmiko criticized the 2027 national road preservation budget, stating it would only fund two months of maintenance. He warned that insufficient road upkeep could increase accidents and called for better coordination among the Ministry of Finance, Bappenas and the Public Works Ministry on the promised Rp4 trillion for non‑grade rail crossings.

The following day, DPR Chair Puan Maharani announced that the preliminary draft of the 2027 State Budget (RAPBN) had been approved. The draft includes an economic growth target of 5.8‑6.5%, inflation of 1.5‑3.5%, and outlines fiscal postures, poverty reduction goals, and revenue‑expenditure balances for the coming year.
