Indonesia lawmakers urge comprehensive protection for child and rape victims

Member of the DPR Commission VIII, Selly Andriany Gantina, called for holistic state assistance for children rescued from sexual exploitation in Cibitung, Bekasi and Lokasari, West Jakarta. She emphasized that restitution must be paired with long‑term psychological rehabilitation, social reintegration, continued education and asset seizure of perpetrators.

Commission XIII member Mafirion appealed to the Lembaga Perlindungan Saksi dan Korban (LPSK) to provide full protection and recovery for a minor rape victim assaulted by 27 men in Sampang, Madura, East Java. He urged immediate physical, medical, psychological, legal and social support and stressed that the justice process must proceed without intimidation.

Both lawmakers highlighted systemic gaps in child‑protection monitoring, early detection of vulnerable youths, and inter‑agency coordination, urging the government to close these gaps and ensure victims receive sustained assistance.
