Indonesia leads AI visual creativity in SE Asia, generating 9 M images daily

Indonesia has been identified as the most creative user of Google’s Gemini AI assistant in Southeast Asia. According to the Gemini Report: Southeast Asia 2026 released on 14 July, Indonesian users generate almost nine million AI‑generated images each day, the highest output among the region’s five other countries.

Google notes that 82 % of Gemini prompts in Indonesia come from mobile devices and that one‑half of the commands now include multimodal inputs such as voice or images, moving beyond text‑only queries. Vice President Sapna Chadha said, “Almost half of the prompts use voice or image to express ideas.” About one‑third of all prompts are purely creative, reflecting strong enthusiasm for visual content creation.

Regionally, active Gemini users in Southeast Asia have more than doubled over the past year, with five billion images produced across the region and roughly one million AI‑generated songs. The rapid adoption is driven by a young, tech‑savvy population and Gemini’s ability to understand local languages, with 84 % of Indonesian prompts written in native tongues.
