Indonesia lifts live chicken buying prices to aid farmers

The Indonesian government, through the National Food Agency (Bapanas), has reached an agreement with the Poultry Farmers Association (Pinsar) to raise the purchase price of live birds. Effective June 10, prices were set at Rp15,500 per kilogram in Central Java and Rp16,000 in West and East Java; they were increased on June 12 to Rp17,000‑Rp17,500 per kilogram, with a target of Rp19,500 per kilogram across Java by June 15. Bapanas Director Maino Dwi Hartono said, "Pemerintah akan mengawal komitmen Pinsar Indonesia. Kondisi ini memang kita lihat ada over supply tapi semoga harga pembelian peternak bisa membaik mendekati HAP."

On the same day, the National Strategic Food Price Information Center reported mixed movements in other food commodities: rice prices fell 1‑2 %, chilies dropped 3‑7 %, fresh chicken meat fell 5.6 % to Rp36,000 per kg, beef fell around 6 % to roughly Rp132‑140 000 per kg, while cooking oil slipped 1.7 % to Rp20,350 per liter. The data illustrate broader price fluctuations in Indonesia’s food market amid efforts to stabilize poultry farmer incomes.
