Indonesia maintains macroeconomic stability amid global turbulence

Indonesia's macroeconomic stability remains resilient despite global economic turbulence, with economic growth reaching 5.29 percent in the third quarter. This growth rate exceeds that of many developed nations and neighboring ASEAN countries, according to Prof. Perdana Wahyu Santosa of the GREAT Institute.

Inflation is reported at 3.85 percent, which remains controlled despite global logistics disruptions causing imported inflation. Consumer purchasing power for consumption stands above 5.8 percent. Additionally, investment has reached Rp1,575 trillion, representing approximately 75 percent of the 2026 target and a 7 percent increase from the previous year.

However, economic analysts note challenges regarding the middle class. While the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has maintained growth, experts suggest that nominal income growth has not kept pace with the rising cost of living. This has led to a squeeze on disposable income, forcing many households to adjust their consumption patterns. Analysts emphasize that future policy must focus on long-term income creation rather than just temporary consumption stimuli or inflation control.
