Indonesia unveils 2027 Draft State Budget targeting 5.8-6.5% growth
President Prabowo Subianto has unveiled the 2027 Draft State Budget (RAPBN), which focuses on eight national priority programs including food sovereignty, energy self-sufficiency, education, health, and poverty reduction. The proposed budget aims to drive economic growth between 5.8% and 6.5% through increased government spending and greater state control over natural resources.
Key fiscal targets include a total state expenditure of Rp4,097.2 trillion and a projected budget deficit of 2.4% of GDP. The education budget is set at Rp820.9 trillion, with Rp240 trillion specifically earmarked for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. Additionally, the government has allocated Rp195.3 trillion for food security and Rp549.9 trillion for social protection.
Regional development is also a priority, with the Transfer to Regions (TKD) fund planned at Rp735 trillion, a 6% increase from 2026. Furthermore, President Prabowo announced a goal to complete a nationwide school revitalization program by 2029 to ensure all educational facilities are safe and suitable for learning.
