Indonesia Ministry of Creative Economy launches digital training for students
The Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy, in collaboration with Shopee Indonesia, has launched the Santri Melek Teknologi (Santri Matic) program at the Al-Muayyad Mangkuyudan Islamic boarding school in Surakarta. The initiative aims to equip 200 students from 22 boarding schools across the Solo Raya region with advanced digital skills.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya stated that Indonesia's 42,000 boarding schools and nearly five million students represent a fundamental asset for national economic growth. The program focuses on transforming local cultural potential into sustainable creative commodities, such as publishing, film, animation, fashion, and culinary products.
Participants will be trained as content creators and affiliates to help market pesantren-based products, including modest fashion and local crafts, to a wider digital audience. The Ministry intends to expand this program nationally, providing ongoing mentorship and establishing an alumni community to ensure long-term development.
