Indonesia creative economy development initiatives
Overview
The Indonesian government has introduced several strategic programs to strengthen the national creative economy and increase global market access. The Ministry of Creative Economy launched the ‘Creative by Indonesia’ program to utilize cultural heritage, such as music and traditional arts, for international promotion.
To enhance technological capabilities, the Indonesia–India Creative-Tech Corridor was established to link Indonesian talent with Indian expertise in digital connectivity and audiovisual production. Officials noted that artificial intelligence is expected to drive this knowledge-based economy by creating new jobs and skills.
Domestically, the Ministry has expanded its focus to digital literacy through partnerships, such as the Santri Melek Teknologi program with Shopee Indonesia. This initiative provides digital training to students in Islamic boarding schools to help them transform local cultural potential into digital commodities like fashion, film, and culinary products.
